The competition tasks of this skill category are based on the Vocational qualification in the vehicle sector. The qualification titles of the basic qualification are autokorinkorjaaja (vehicle body repairer), automaalari (vehicle painter), automyyjä (car salesperson), ajoneuvoasentaja (vehicle mechanic), pienkonekorjaaja (small machinery repairer) and varaosamyyjä (part salesperson).
The professional who have completed the qualification may work according to the competence area for example in vehicle sales, car repair shops, car or car parts shops, car painting shops or in industries manufacturing different vehicle bodies, special vehicles and caravans.

Description of the skill
A vehicle body repairer prepares a damage analysis and cost estimate for a damaged vehicle. S/he repairs the vehicle ready for painting. The work of a vehicle body repairer requires diverse technical skills, hand skills and customer service skills.
The competition is individual.
Skill requirements
The core competency in this vocation lies in repairing damages caused by accidents. An accident may damage a vehicle’s technology, body structure, and cosmetic surfaces.
A knowledge of body materials and their repair methods is essential when it comes to cars with modern safety technology. Correctly interpreting and following the car manufacturer’s body repair instructions is necessary in order to reach a safe end result.
Welding skills with various equipment are an essential part of autobody repair work. The competitors must also have a good command of various measuring and testing instruments. Post-painting outfitting and quality assurance are also a part of this vocation.
