Description of the skill

The skill is based on the objectives and assessment criteria of the Vocational Qualification in Building Maintenance Technology, the competence area of ventilation fitters.

The building maintenance technology sector comprises heating, water supply and ventilation of buildings, which are an important part of the sector. In the building technology sector, the aim of the activities is to create a good indoor climate, i.e. a comfortable and healthy environment for people living and working in houses. Energy efficiency, which supports sustainable development and climate-responsible activities, is emphasised in the activities of the building technology sector, and cost savings are sought. The traditional building technology sector is increasingly associated with building automation, electrical and IT expertise.

Those who have completed the competence area of ventilation fitters are able to carry out ductwork, terminal equipment and machine installations related to new buildings in accordance with drawings and work descriptions. Ventilation fitters carry out their work according to official regulations. Ventilation fitters are able to measure and balance the system they have built.

The competition is individual.
